Squash News: Zeeshan wins men’s: Mehwish lifts women’s crown

KARACHI: Emerging squash lad, Zeeshan Zeb and Mehwish claimed the men’s and women’s titles of the 2nd Torsam Khan & Jahangir Khan PSA Satellite Series after thrashing Mohammad Ammad and Roshna Mehboob in the finals at Pakistan Navy Roshan Khan Jahangir Khan Squash Complex.

On Tuesday, in the men’s final Zeeshan Zeb claimed an easy victory against Mohammad Ammad in a single-sided contest. Mohammad Ammad proved a hot piece of cake coming from the oven, as the winning lad showed an impressive game. The final score-line was 11-8, 11-3 and 11-6, as the championship match lasted 28 minutes.

Earlier, in the women’s final, Mehwish overcame Roshna Mehboob 3-2 in a five-game thrilling contest. Both women were determined to win the title till the end of the last game. The final score-line was 11/6, 11 /9, 4/11, 9/11, 12/10, as the match lasted 37 minutes. Mehwish won the first two games comfortably and lost the next two games: however, she reshuffled her feather and won the last game on tie-break 12-10 to clinch the championship title.

Meanwhile, in the Under-15 final, Nauman Khan stunned Malik Haris in straight games 3-0 to win the juniors’ title of the championship 2023, as the final score-line was 11-4, 11-3 and 11-2. It is important to note here that Torsam Khan the son of a great former squash player Roshan Khan and elder brother of squash legend Jahangir Khan. He died of a heart attack on November 28, 1979, during the Australian Open match in Adelaide, Australia.

At the closing ceremony, squash icon Jahangir Khan, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Combaxx Sports Omar Saeed and CEO of Image Pvt Ltd. Asad Ahmed distributed the prizes amongst the players.
