FIFA announces final three nominees for The Best FIFA Goalkeepers

Sports Desk ISLAMABAD: FIFA has announced the finalists for The Best FIFA Women’s Goalkeeper and The Best FIFA Men’s Goalkeeper awards for the 2022 edition of The Best FIFA Football Awards™. These two awards are given to the outstanding goalkeepers in women’s and men’s football as voted for by an international jury respectively comprising the current coaches of all women’s/men’s national teams (one per team), the current captains of all women’s/men’s national teams (one per team), one specialist journalist from each territory represented by a national team and fans registered on FIFA.com. The full voting and award process is detailed in the Rules of Allocation. All the winners of The Best FIFA Football Awards 2022 will be crowned at a special ceremony on Monday, 27 February 2023 in Paris. 15-a-side Championship: Lahore Rugby Football Club win opener

Sports Bulletin Report LAHORE: Lahore Rugby Football Club (LRFC) thrashed Desert Campbell Rugby Football Club (DCRFC) Bahawalnagar by 22-5 in the Servis Tyres 15-a-side Rugby Championship 2023 first match played here on Sunday. The inaugural match of the Pakistan Rugby Union's most premier league event at Lahore was witnessed and enjoyed by Rizwan Malik, Haji Anwar, Mohammad Zubair, Shakeel Malik, Syed Moazzam Ali Shah, Asim Ali and a large number of rugby players were present. At the end of the first half, the score was 22-0 while in the second half, Desert Campbell team tried to bounce back by playing a great game, but the defence of the Lahore Rugby Football Club appeared to be quite strong and comfortably won the match. Saim, Tauqeer, Irfan and Imran scored one try each from Lahore Rugby Football Club while Zain scored the conversion. Wasim scored the only try from Desert Campbell Rugby Club. In this way, teams of Islamabad Jinns and Lahore Rugby Football Club have won one match each in the Division One.

Noor Rugby Club win Darrah Adam Khail Under-16 Tournament

Sports Bulletin Report PESHAWAR: Noor Rugby Club have won the Darrah Adam Khail Under-16 Tournament that held under the banners of Pakistan Rugby Union (PRU) aiming to flourish the game at lower level and to provide occasions to junior players. According to an official, Pakistan Rugby Union is organizing the tournament all over Pakistan in different age groups’ 7s and 15s events at the various locations of Pakistan. In Khyber Pakhutan Kawa (KPK) Darrah Adam Khail Under-16 tournament was held which was won by Noor Rugby Club. 3 cities participated in this junior activity including Noor Rugby Club from Darrah Adam Khail, Pakthons Rugby Club Noshera and Aspirian Rugby club Peshawar. The first game which was ended 0-0 draw between Noor RFC and Aspirian RFC and in 2nd game Pakhtons beat Aspirian by 15-0 and in 3rd and last game before final Noor RFC beat Pakhtons by 27-0. After the league games Noor RFC and Pakhtons RFC qualify for final which was reply of league game Noor RFC beat Pakhtons by 5-0 and won the Under 16 Rugby cup 2023. In the concluding ceremony chief guests Major Yasin (Frontier Core), Sajid Khan Afridi District Sports Officer Kohar and Noor Aslam Executive Committee member Pakistan Rugby union distributed trophies.

Over half-a-million tickets sold for FIFA Women World Cup

Sports Bulletin Report ISLAMABAD: FIFA has revealed that over half-a-million tickets have been sold to fans from more than 120 countries for the ninth edition of the FIFA Women’s World Cup, taking place this July and August in Australia and Aotearoa New Zealand. The first-ever 32-team FIFA Women’s World Cup will be a truly global celebration of football and welcome teams qualified for the first time ever in their history from Morocco, Zambia, Philippines, Vietnam and the Republic of Ireland. FIFA Secretary General Fatma Samoura said: “Ticket sales for the FIFA Women’s World Cup 2023 are off to a great start and it’s not just home fans in Australia and Aotearoa New Zealand purchasing tickets! Fans residing in the United States of America, England, Qatar, Germany, China PR, Canada, the Republic of Ireland and France are the top 10 purchasers of FIFA Women’s World Cup 2023 tickets so far. This highlights the fantastic pull of the female game and the passion it evokes among the global football fandom.

FIFA appoints 33 referees, 55 assistant referees for Women World Cup

Sports Bulletin Report ISLAMABAD: FIFA Referees Committee announced the names of the match officials selected for the FIFA Women’s World Cup Australia & New Zealand 2023™. A total of 33 referees, 55 assistant referees and 19 video match officials (VMOs) will form FIFA Team One and have been chosen in close cooperation with the six confederations, based on the officials’ quality and the performances delivered at FIFA tournaments as well as at other international and domestic competitions in recent years. For the first time in the history of the FIFA Women’s World Cup, six female VMOs have also been selected. “As always, the criteria we have used is ‘quality first’ and the selected on-field match officials represent the highest level of refereeing worldwide,” said the chairman of the FIFA Referees Committee, Pierluigi Collina. “We all remember the very successful FIFA Women’s World Cup 2019 in France. The high standard of refereeing contributed significantly to that success. The aim for the FIFA Women’s World Cup Australia & New Zealand 2023 is to repeat that success and to convince again with excellent referees’ performances.” “Even though the pandemic affected our activities, we had enough time to provide the candidates with good preparation. As we did for the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022, we are announcing these selections well in advance to be able to work in a purposeful and focused manner with all those who have been appointed for the FIFA Women’s World Cup, monitoring them over the coming months. FIFA World Cup 2022: Croatia outplay Morocco 2-1 in third position play-off

Report: Abdul Jabbar Faisal ISLAMABAD: Croatia thrashed Morocco 2-1 in the 3rd position play-off of the FIFA World Cup 2022 at Khalifa International Football Stadium in Doha, Qatar on Saturday night. The losers of the semifinal, started the third-position contest heartlessly, as Morocco defenders a lot of errors at the start of the game. During the first three minutes, Croatia missed a couple of open chances to get the upper hand in the match but they missed these chances. However, Josko Gvardiol netted the ball with his head spectacularly, as he got flying passing from the left side and put his team 1-0 ahead. After going down 1-0, the Morocco footballers changed their tactic and made some joint efforts from both flanks left and right, as they succeeded to level the match 1-1 after two minutes. Achraf Dari scored the goal for Morocco. After 1-1, both teams showed some aggression and attached each other goalposts countless times. Morocco wasted two open chances in the 24th and 29th minute to earn the lead in the vital match of the Qatar Football World Cup 2022. Around three minutes before the break, Croatian forward Mislav Orsic score the second goal for his team in the 42nd minute, as he received the ball in the box on the left side he kicked the ball to the left side of the goal side that went into the goal after hitting the goalpost. Morocco tried their best to bounce back in the match and square the score 2-2 but Croatian defenders and goalkeeper were alerted to halt their attempts. After the first half, the score-line was 2-1 in the favour of Croatia. Meanwhile, in the second half, Croatian players kept possession of the ball and made combined moves to enhance the lead, as they missed a golden occasion in the 51st minute when M Livaja kicked the ball inches away from the target. Morocco presented a bit rough game in the middle of the second half and they attempted six fouls. Croatia also did some errors and played 9 fouls after completing the 70 minutes of the game. In the last moments, Morocco got an occasion to level the game in the injury time but failed to level the game. Hakimi was well marked by Croatian defenders and the second half ended goalless, as Croatia claimed the third position in the FIFA World Cup 2022. At the final whistle the score was Croatia 2 and Morocco 1 after 90 minutes of the game. IBECHS Gulberg Football Tournament: final on December 24, 2022

Sports Bulletin Report ISLAMABAD: The final of the ongoing IBECHS Gulberg Football Tournament will be played on December 24, 2022 at Gulberg football ground. According to an official of IBECHS, the 'Gulberg Green Football League' tournament kicked off on December 10, as the top 16 football clubs were selected for the fixture. Nafees Maki (Retd) Joint DG IB was the chief guest of the opening ceremony. Awais Ayub Vice president and Mohammad Ali Information Secretary of the IBECHS were the special guests of the event. The tournament will conclude on 24th December 2022. Shujaat Ullah Qureshi will be the chief guest and General Zubair Mahmood Hayat NI (M) HI (M) will be the guest of honor for the final. IBECHS Gulberg Green Tournament completes quarterfinals line-up

Kahota Club overcame Model Town Club 3-1 while Muslim Club beat Afghan Club by 2-0 goals. Gangal Club ousted ABC Club by 3-1 while Arslan Club beat Coral Club by 3-1. IBECHS Gulberg Football: Arsalan FC Defeat Hurra FC by 3-1

Sports Bulletin Report ISLAMABAD: Arsalan Football Club defeated Hurra Football Club 3-1 in the IBECHS Football Tournament here at Gulberg Football Ground on Wednesday. Mohammad Abrar scored the first goal for his team Arsalan FC in the 4th minute of the match and led his team 1-0 in the knock-out round of the tournament. Osaman doubled the lead by scoring an excellent goal before the finishing of the first half of the game. Arsalan FC were ahead 2-0, in the end, halfway. The third goal was scored by Mohammad Faheem for the winners to make the score-line 3-0. However, in the last minute, Hurra FC got a penalty kick, which came back after hitting right side of the goalpost. On the rebound, Mohammad Issar scored the only goal for Hurra FC. FIFA World Cup: Argentina score 3 goal against Croatia in semifinal
