PFF announces probables for AFC U23 Asian Cup 2024 Qualifiers
Sports Bulletin ReportLAHORE: Pakistan Football Federation (PFF) has announced the national squad for the Asian Football Confederation (AFC) Under-23 Asian Cup 2024 Qualifiers, which will take place in Bahrain next month September 2023According to an official of PFF, the training camp is scheduled to commence on August 17 in Abbottabad, providing an opportunity for the players to ready themselves as a unified team. The Shaheens were drawn into Group D alongside the host country Bahrain, the 2016 champions Japan and Palestine. The national team will face Japan on September 6 followed by Bahrain on September 9 and Palestine on September 12. PTF officials congratulate Ushna Suhail on Tamgha-e-Imtiaz Award
Abdul Jabbar FaisalISLAMABAD: The top officials of the Pakistan Tennis Federation (PTF) congratulated top national female tennis player Ushna Suhail, who was conferred with the award of TAMGHA-E-IMTIAZ by the President of Pakistan Dr Arif Alvi on Independence Day 14th August 2023 on her meritorious services in the field of tennis at national and international level.It is pertinent to mention here that Ushna Suhail was honoured by the International Tennis Federation (ITF), as she was presented with the prestigious Billie Jean King Cup Commitment and awarded there at a special ceremony in Kuala Lumpur during the recently held Billie Jean King Cup Asia Group 2, in July 2023. She is the solitary female Pakistani tennis player to receive a prestigious award.Ushna Suhail has represented Pakistan in the Billie Jean King Cup (formerly known as Fed Cup), Islamic Games, Asian Games, Asian Martial Arts and Indoor Games, and South Asian Games and has also been Pakistan's No-1 for several years. She is Pakistan's first and only female player who achieved WTA Ranking.President PTF, Senator Salim Saifullah Khan and other officials congratulated Ushna Suhail and her family on the award of the TAMGHA-E-IMTIAZ which is a great honour for PTF and tennis lovers. The President also stated that Ushna's award should prove to be a catalyst for other female players to achieve such laurels due to hard work and dedication.

Mohammad Waseem to lead UAE squad against New Zealand T20Is Series
Faisal Khokhar Dubai (UAE): Mohammad Waseem is all set to make his T20I captaincy debut in the three-match series against New Zealand which will be played at the Dubai International Stadium from Thursday, 17 August. Waseem – 23 T20Is for UAE – was appointed the ODI captain earlier this year. He now takes over the reins of the national men’s side for T20Is. The 16-member squad includes two uncapped youngsters, all-rounder Faraazuddin and left-arm spinner Jash Giyanani. Both players have been rewarded for consistent performances in domestic cricket and for UAE A’ team. Prolific ODI batter Asif Khan is also set to make his T20I debut after a series of impressive performances in ODIs including the fastest century for an Associate Member batter earlier this year in Nepal. Mari Petroleum Company Limited, Navy, WAPDA, Pakistan Air Force claim victoriesAbdul Jabbar FaisalRAWALPINDI: Mari Petroleum Company Limited (MPCL), Pakistan Navy, Pakistan WAPDA, and Pakistan Air Force (PAF) posted victories in the 2nd Mari Petroleum Azadi Cup Hockey Tournament 2023 after beating their respective opponents at Lt General Retired Ashfaq Nadeem Hockey Stadium Ayub Park Rawalpindi on Tuesday. It is pertinent to mention here that the tournament is being organized by Mari Petroleum Company Limited (MPCL) under the banner Pakistan Hockey Federation (PHF).In the first match of the day-1, host team Mari Petroleum outclassed Pakistan Police 5-1. Arbaaz Ahmed of Mari Petroleum scored 3 goals in a row on the penalty corner to score the first hat-trick of the tournament. Afraz Khan played an important role in his team's victory by scoring 2 goals. Qayyum Dogar could score a solitary goal for Police. Haroon Rasheed and Asad Abbas performed the duties of umpires while Ameer Hamza was the reserve umpire. Technical officials Murtaza Bhatti along with Yasir Lodhi and Tariq Butt performed the responsibilities of the judges.Meanwhile, in the second fixture, Pakistan Navy thrashed Army Whites by 5-1 in a single-sided affair. Basharat, Ehsanullah Khan, Mohammad Sabir, Hamad Ali, Rana Waleed scored one goal each from Pakistan Navy while Zul Noreen scored the only goal for Army White. Umpires’ duties were performed by Irfan Tahir and Fahad Ali Khan while Asad Abbas was the reserve umpire. He was followed by Raheel Gill, who contributed 9 points to the Timberwolves' victory. On the Rockets' side, Ramzee showcased his talent and determination, securing 12 points, with Ahmed putting forth a commendable performance as well, scoring 10 points. The match was officiated by a team of proficient referees Umer Mahmood, Yasir Ghaffor, and Farhan (Navy).  The distinguished gathering of sports enthusiasts and professionals witnessed Deputy Director General Pakistan Sports Board (PSB) Shahid Islam, gracing the event as the chief guest while President of the Federal Basketball Association (FBBA) Ejaz Rafi Butt, was present as the guest of honor. Sri Lanka ready to participate in Asian Junior’s Championship
Sports Bulletin ReportColombo (Sri Lanka): The Sri Lankan junior squash team is all set to compete in the 30th Asian Junior Individual Championships in Dalian, China. The team is led by Nevindu Lakman, who is ranked third in Asia in the Under-19 category and Chanithma Sinaly Under-19 girls Champion.The team is confident of doing well in the tournament and left the island on Saturday 12th Aug evening along with Tour Manager Colonel Mangala Balasuriya and Lady Chaperone Padmini Chandrasiri from Visaka Vidyalaya.The players have been training hard for the past few months under head coach Chaminda Thalagala along with other 4 assistant coaches and are eager to represent their country on the international stage. They are also motivated by the recent success of Sri Lankan squash players, such as Ravindu Laksiri (PSA World rank 121), and Nevindu Lakman, who have both achieved great success in recent years internationally.The team is hoping to make a mark in the tournament and bring back some medals for Sri Lanka. They are also hoping to inspire other young squash players in Sri Lanka to achieve their dreams. We wish our junior players all the courage to perform well.

Huzaifa Shahid, Huzaifa Ibrahim, Aina Sheikh clinch titles of KPT Squash
Sports Bulletin ReportKarachi: Huzaifa Shahid, Huzaifa Ibrahim, and Aina Sheikh have won the titles of the Pakistan Independence Day 4th Karachi Port Trust (KPT) Boys Squash Championship 2023 that concluded at KPT Sports Department Karachi. Huzaifa Shahid won the Boys U-15 title while Huzaifa Ibrahim secured the boys U-19 title and the girls U-19 title was claimed by Aina Sheikh. In the boys U-19 final, Huzaifa Ibrahim beat Anas Khan with 11-8, 11-8, 11-5 in 35 minutes. Mohammad Ali and Abdul Basit got a bronze medal each. In the U-15 boys final, Huzaifa Shahid beat Abdullah Shahid in straight games with the score-line of 11-9, 11-5, 11-4 in 23 minutes. Haris Sheraz and Abdul Ahad earned a bronze medal each. In the girls U-19 final, Aina Sheikh beat Sameera Shahid 3-1 with the final score-line of 7-11, 11-4, 11-8, 11-5 in 26 minutes. Wannia Tahir and Soha Ali secured a bronze medal each. On this occasion, Chairman KPT KPT Chairman Syedain Raza Zaidi encouraged the players and hinted to hold more tournaments. He also asked players to continue their efforts with more hard work and dedication. Later, the Chairman KPT, along with KPT GM Admin Brig Tariq Basheer, former international squash player Maqsood Khan and Tournament Director Naveed Alam, distributed prizes among the winners and runners-up.

The host batters could score just 48 runs. They bowled out in the penultimate ball of the 15th over. Jeangir Shah was top scorer with 13 runs off 18 balls, was caught by Muaz Sadaqat on the bowling of Sajid Khan. Azadi Cup Tenpin Bowling Tournament starts in Rawalpindi
Sports Bulletin ReportRAWALPINDI: The Azadi Cup Tenpin Bowling Tournament started under the auspices of the Pakistan Tenpin Bowling Federation (PTBF), at Leisure City Bowling Club, Jinnah Park, Rawalpindi.President, Pakistan Tenpin Bowling Federation, Ijazur Rehman inaugurated the tournament. Secretary General, Pakistan Tenpin Bowling Federation, Mohammad Hussain Chatha, and a large number of peoples were also present on the occasion.About 100 men and women players from all over the country, are taking part in the tournament. Eight competitions are being played in the tournament namely men's single, men's doubles, ladies singles, Amateur, Deaf, team event, Inter-Universities, and Inter-Schools.The semifinals and finals will be played on August 16 and 17, respectively. At the end of the finals, the concluding ceremony will be held on August 17, at 6.00 pm. Trophies, and Certificates will be delivered to the winning players.
